Facebook-un Azərbaydan dilinə tərcüməsi 2008-ci ilin yay aylarından başlanılıb. Ilk vaxtlarda həvəskarların aktiv olduğu tərcümə prosesinə sonradan xaricdə yaşayan və təhsil alan gənclər də qoşuldular. 3 mərhələdən ibarət olan tərcümə prosesinin ilk mərhələsində yalnız lüğət tərcümə olundu və səsvermə nəticəsində lüğət qəbul olundu. Ikinci mərhələdə Facebook-un özü tərcümə olundu. Bu mərhələ hələ də başa çatmasa belə, artıq 2 Oktyabr 2009-cu il tarixindən etibarən sayt rəsmi olaraq Azərbaycan dilində də fəaliyyət göstərir. İstifadəçilər Hesab Tənzimləmələrindən Dil bölməsində müvafiq olaraq Azərbaycan dilini seçməklə Facebook-u bu dildə istifadə edə bilərlər. Tərcümə prosesində indiyə qədər 556 Facebook istifadəçisi müxtəlif səviyyədə və müxtəlif formada iştirak edib. Tərcümə işinə yardım etmək məqsədilə Facebook-da bir sıra qruplar da yaradılmışdır. “ Facebook-u Azərbaycan dilinə tərcümə edək!” və “ Facebook should be in Azeri Language” bu sahədə ən əsas qruplardandır. Turan Kərimli tərəfindən idarə olunan “ Facebook-u Azərbaycan dilinə tərcümə edək!” qrupunda mütəmadi olaraq tərcümə prosesi barəsində məlumatlar yayımlanır. Qrup tərcümə prosesinə daha çox tərcüməçi cəlb etməsi və müzakirələrə tərcümə prosesində iştirak etmiyənlərin də cəlb edilməsinə nail olub.

“Facebook” “Translations Apps” tətbiqetməsi çərçivəsində istifadəçilər xidməti səhifələrin mətnlərini və saytın menyusunu tərcümə edir, administrasiya isə tərcümənin nəticələrini yoxlayır və üslubun dəyişilməz qalmasına nəzarət edir. İnterfeysin ayrı-ayrı elementlərinin ən yaxşı variantları səsvermə yolu ilə müəyyən olunur.
